About.
Alex's journey as a journalist started when he was just four years old, when he created his own fictional radio station while watching the Electric Light Parade at Disney World. (see right)

As a kid, Alex would turn down the volume on the television so he could practice his skills as a broadcaster. In spite of the pictures above, Alex has been a lifelong Cubs fan, but has always had an affinity for all of his hometown teams.
Alex's greatest dream as a kid was to be able to play Major League Baseball, and then become a broadcaster after finishing playing.
However, it wasn't until he got to high school that Alex realized he could turn one of his lifelong dreams into a reality.
In high school, Alex participated in the nationally recognized BHS-TV program at Barrington High School. Through his four years at Barrington and BHS-TV, he grew substantially as a journalist and person because of the work he did as part of the television program.

While in BHS-TV, Alex created his own reoccurring segment called "Good Eats with Gaul" (see left) that reviewed and profiled local restaurants. The segment became so popular that he would get recognized around the high school by people he didn't know because they had seen the show on BHS-TV.
During his junior year, Alex took over as President and Managing Editor of Content at BHS-TV. It was also at this time that he became the anchor of the program's sports show "Barrington Sports Desk". The show had been created by his mentor, RJ, who had graduated the previous year.

Under Alex's direction, "Sports Desk" became an even more successful show. (see above) Episodes delivered highlights from a multitude of boys and girls sports as well as profiled the athletes who played them. In 2017, the segment won a NATAS Crystal Pillar for Student Excellence in the Talent category. When he graduated, he passed the segment onto his good friend Ben. (pictured on left).

In all, Alex received six Crystal Pillars from NATAS over his four years in high school. All of his Crystal Pillar winning videos are featured in a gallery on the right.

Alex is extremely fortunate to have received the opportunities he did in high school because of his parents (pictured at left) and his brother, Hunter. They challenge him to work hard at everything that he does.
One of Alex's proudest accomplishments however came outside of high school. One of Alex's friends, Jack, (pictured below) asked Alex to help him with a large scale project he was planning to create during their junior year of high school.

The idea was to create an hour-long action film, and Jack brought Alex onto the project as his producer. Over the course of two years, they meticulously planned, shot and edited the action drama "Expiration Date". After the hard work was done, the film premiered at "The Catlow" theater in their hometown of Barrington.

Alex graduated from Barrington High School in May 2017, and is currently attending Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. He is also a member of the Barrett Honors College.
During his freshman year at ASU, Alex wasted no time in getting involved. He has already reported for a variety of outlets at ASU, including for Walter Cronkite Sports Network and The State Press.
At WCSN, Alex is a Reporter and Videographer for ASU Football Baseball, Men's and Women's Basketball and Volleyball. He was the first freshman from the Class of 2021 to be voted onto WCSN's Executive Board, and currently directs coverage of both Volleyball and Women's Basketball.
